Trey Litel

Bayou Rum Distillery
President
Lacassine, Louisiana
It started with an idea that came out of a duck blind conversation while hunting near the Lacassine Wildlife Refuge and the local Louisiana sugarcane fields. That idea has grown into Bayou® Rum available now in about 20 states and quickly becoming America's Rum® with 79 awards in tasting competitions and 4 delicious expressions.
Since Louisiana was the birthplace of sugarcane farming in the "new world," is the home of the biggest Mardi Gras party in America, the biggest cocktail festival (TOTC), has some of the greatest (and spiciest) food on earth, and is a place where our fiercely loyal citizens live every day to the fullest, we wondered why isn't someone creating a home-grown, high-quality Louisiana rum? How was it possible that Louisiana, a state that produces more sugarcane than any Caribbean island, with a reputation for good times, did not have a world class Rum…
A Lake Charles, Louisiana native raised on Contraband Bayou, Trey partnered with his brother, Tim Litel, and rum aficionado Skip Cortese, in 2011 to birth Louisiana Spirits – a proud American rum distillery and home to Bayou Rum. The distillery was named #1 Attraction in Louisiana with a 2016 Louey Award from LTPA this year!
Trey contributes ideas and over 30 years of sales and marketing expertise, 15 of those years in the distilled spirits and beverages industries. While at Bacardi, Trey made notable achievements in regional marketing, sales, and brand management where he was awarded the Bacardi National Sales Achievement award for selling the biggest display of the year. As a graduate of Louisiana State University, Trey is an avid Tigers fan and enjoys trips to Baton Rouge on Saturday nights in the fall.
Trey’s favorite drink is a “Bayou Mosquito” made with fresh mint grown in Louisiana soil with a healthy pour of Bayou Silver Rum.
While in NOLA, Trey hopes you enjoy Bayou® Rum, The Spirit of Louisiana® and "laissez les bon temps rouler." Drop by the distillery for a tour if your itinerary allows. Cheers!
