Liza Weisstuch
Freelance writer & editor
New York
Liza used to cut math class in high school to hang out in the stairwell and write short stories. Clearly, she heard her calling early in life. Today she works as a freelance writer and editor. Her stories have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Whisky Advocate, Whisky Magazine (of which she's also the US contributing editor), Hemispheres, Fine Cooking, and many others. She did NOT cut math class to hang out and drink. The spirits industry is a calling she heard when she turned 21. She's traveled to over 65 distilleries in 10 countries to learn about how different cultures produce--and enjoy--alcohol, something she got an intimate look at when she did an apprenticeship at a distillery on Islay, Scotland. Liza has judged numerous competitions, including the World Whiskies Awards and the Ultimate Beverage Challenge. If you spot her, please say hi. She'd love to meet you and hear your story.
