Born into the great wine state of Tennessee, Jason was first introduced to wine and vineyards as a kid during treks to visit his grandparents in Northern California. That, and how to perfectly craft his father’s Manhattans on Friday afternoons. After graduating in 1999 from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Environmental Engineering, Jason’s passion for wine transformed from a clumsy obsession into a life-long devotion.

Hired by Vinifera Imports, a wholesaler of boutique Italian wines, Jason quickly became Sales Manager after four months. In March of 2003, he received the first level of certification, a step toward the final goal of becoming part of the elite Master Sommeliers. After representing Vinifera statewide in Colorado for two years, Jason was enticed back into the restaurant business. Opening four restaurants in four years as General Manager and Beverage Director, Jason embraced cocktail culture and earned recognition in Gourmet and Wine Spectator magazines for his programs.

Moving in 2007 onto the biggest stage in the wine and spirit world, Jason has been working as a Vias Imports wine consultant to some of the world’s finest restaurants and most famous chefs in New York City for the past nine years.

Jason’s experience allowed him to lead seminars at the Keystone Wine Event, work with national beverage promotions, head panel discussions at the famed Aspen Food & Wine Classic, and host events at Manhattan’s famous DeGustibus Cooking School. Jason is currently finishing in the Wine and Spirit Education Trust’s diploma program.
