As a thank you for your service and support, we’re hosting a special seminar luncheon just for you! Join us along with Tim Master, Director of Specialty Spirits, of Frederick Wildman and Sons as he speaks about Chartreuse Liqueur, a beautiful mystery… 

The recipe is a mystery to all but a handful of the Carthusian monks responsible for creating this wonderful liqueur. Of course, we are unable to reveal the entire mystery of what goes into Chartreuse but we will be able to explore the many secrets and bountiful history of this liqueur.  Join us on a journey from Paris where the Chartreuse recipe was first given to the Carthusians straight down to the French Alps where Chartreuse has been produced from over 400 years.   And of course, we will have the opportunity to taste Chartreuse in its many forms...

Mandarine Napoléon Battle of The Sexes
In the spirit of Napoléon’s epic battles, Mandarine Napoléon will bring to Tales of the Cocktail this year the battle of all battles- man vs. woman in the 4th Annual Mandarine Napoléon Imperial Battle of the Sexes. 

In this truly unique event, taking place on Wednesday, July 20 at the Napoleon House, eight of the best male from around the globe and eight of the best female bartenders from around the United States will be paired against each other to create their very own signature Mandarine Napoléon cocktail, and guests will determine their fate. Each bartender will have their own station to serve their signature cocktails, while strategically pleading for votes. Guests will be able to try all cocktails presented and enjoy New Orleans style cuisine featuring Mandarine Napoléon.

This year, teams will also face off in challenges that test their knowledge, creativity and skill. This portion of the competition will be judged by an expert panel, including brand owner Marc de Kuyper. At the end, one sex will be determined the winner and hailed as the conquerors.

5 years ago, we started with a simple idea to challenge bartenders from around the country to create sangritas that pair well with the nuances and terroir of Tequila Ocho. From 5 competing cities to 11, and literally hundreds of creative sangrita recipes submitted over the years, Viva Sangrita! Viva Tequila Ocho! has grown into something so much more than we originally had in mind. It’s been exciting to see so many talented members of our community “step-up to the plate” year after year, with some truly innovative concepts, always pushing their limits higher than before. 

Viva Sangrita! Viva Tequila Ocho! traditionally culminated in a big celebration at d.b.a. As you may have noticed, we did not run the competition in 2016. However, we couldn’t see any reason why not to throw a kick-ass party at TOTC anyway! 

Same spot, same time.
