Distillery Day: Fine Rum Process Demonstration- Celebration Distillation, makers of Old New Orleans Rum and Gingeroo

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The process of making a fine rum requires many exacting details - a true marriage of science and art. Head Distiller Mike Kelly will demonstrate the different fascinating steps that create Old New Orleans Rum.

Celebration Distillation, America's oldest operating rum distillery, invites guests interested in learning about open lid fermentation, wild fermentation, barrel repair and barrel charring. Mike will talk about how each of these steps affects flavor and quality of the product.

Our trophy case keeps growing as more and more folks discover that a locally sourced rum can be high quality and an artisanal experience. Our Twentieth Anniversary Blend, King Creole has just received a Platinum Award as the highest scoring rum in the Continental United States.

Naturally, guests will be treated to samples of King Creole, as well as our other awesome products.

As an added treat, Big Easy Bucha will offer kombucha samples; and the popular food trucks will be on hand with delicious fare.

For guests who sign up in advance, we'll tap a barrel and give a sip of never-before tasted rum. Tales of the Cocktail participants will also receive a 200ml bottle of a special rum blend.

The distillery is only minutes from downtown, and we offer a shuttle from the French Quarter.

Tour times are noon, 2 pm and 4 pm, but there will be demonstrations throughout the day.

Please call 504-945-4500 or email stacy@oldneworleansrum.com and to join us for Distillery Day.
